Procion MX cold water fibre reactive dyes are amongst the best dyes available for cellulose (plant) fibres - cotton, rayon, linen, hemp, flax, paper, reeds and wood. They also dye protein (animal) fibres - silk, wool and feathers. They come in powder form and are economical in use. The various colours may be intermixed to create different shades. They can be used in various methods of dyeing such as dip dyeing, batik, tie dyeing, washing machine dyeing, and can even be made up and used as a paint or for printing when thickened with Sodium Alginate. Please note that Soda Ash may also be required to activate and set the Procion dyes. This is a mild alkali that promotes the chemical reaction between the fabric dye and cellulose fibres.
