Devore Paste 1/2KG
PLEASE NOTE THIS ITEM CAN ONLY BE SHIPPED TO UK AND IRELAND ADDRESSES
Devoré, an old French technique which means "to devour" or "burnout" fabric blends.
The Devore paste removes only plant fibres: for example cotton, linen, – any fibre that comes from a plant. Rayon is a synthesized wood product, which enables it to be grouped in the plant category.
Protein fibres coming from animals: for example silk and wool, are not affected by the Devore paste, neither are synthetics.
These fibres are left behind in fabric blends when Devore paste removes the plant fibres, creating beautifully sheer areas.
The Devore paste may be applied from the bottle, applied with foam stamps, painted on using a brush or stencilled.
When dry, fabric is tumble dried or ironed to activate, and then rinsed to remove the plant fibres.
Fabrics must be without a surface finish or sizing. If there is a finish applied the paste cannot get through to do the etching.
Good combinations for experimentation would be, rayon/wool blends, rayon/poly blends, silk/rayon and silk/cotton blends.
