Markal Paintstiks are fantastic for fabric colouring and decorating. The oil and wax crayons offer instant colour that can be used on any porous surface such as fabric, unglazed terracotta, wood or paper in fact their use is almost infinite, and when fixed with heat they become permanent!
Markal paintstiks are available in an amazing range of colours, bright, iridescent, and the colours can be blended together. Something for everyone and they are so easy to use.
Markal paintstiks can be used on any type of fabric and any fibre, natural or synthetic.

An even colour spread may vary with different textures so experimenting is recommended.
Not only white fabrics can be used for your projects. The range of 'Iridescent' paintstiks work very well on darker fabrics, and the bright 'Professional' colours are opaque enough to be applied to coloured fabrics.
To make Markal paint permanent on fabric, the paint has to be allowed to be absorbed into the fabric for approximately 48 hours and then it needs thoroughly ironing for about 4 minutes, so that the heat penetrates right through the fabric.
Protecting your iron and ironing-board cover can be achieved by placing the fabric between two sheets of greaseproof paper.
Markal can be used on fabrics such as suede or leather, great for stencilling too.
Markal paintstiks are kept fresh for use again and again, as a thin protective skin forms over the tip after a while. This thin skin should be removed before use.
The paintstiks may also be softened and thinned with turpentine or turpentine substitute just like oil paints.
