The current programme concludes with the Caroline Bell 'Advanced Eco Printing' workshop in June (shown below).
2019 will continue with four workshops taking us through until August before the autumn programme gets underway in September.

All workshops are held at ART VAN GO and run from 10am to 4pm

The maximum numbers on a workshop is normally 12, but many workshops have the maximum reduced to a lower number to accommodate the greater demand for space for particular subjects.
Where this is the case, a note has been added to the workshop details.

  Wed 3rd July

 Two Day Workshop

  Thurs 4th July

 Tutor: Amanda Hislop

HislopA2e smWorking within the restraints of simple materials and limited colour combinations let your work grow and unfold in an exploratory workshop creating both subtle and dynamic surfaces which will work with mixed media and hand stitch.

Transform a variety of papers with simple mono-type drawing; work fabric scraps and muslin scrim into layered surfaces; work with hand stitch using only white and neutral threads.
Let the work evolve.   Add layers of restricted colour combinations to reveal subtle and surprising effects.
Take it further.   What would happen if the surface was further developed?   Folding, fragmenting, rearranging, adding more stitch - follow your own creative direction towards imaginative conclusions.

Suitable for those with an open mind, a desire to explore and who also enjoy the challenge of intuitive experimentation.    Enjoy the freedom to broaden creative boundaries while developing a collection of paper and mixed media samples by exploring the creative potential of line colour and texture in textiles and mixed media.

Look out for Amanda's book launch exhibition and further workshops in the autumn!!!

Colourful Contrasts in Felt  Wed 10th July
Two Day Workshop  Thurs 11th July

 Tutor: Jeanette Appleton

AppletonJuly2019

Become less afraid of colour by enjoying the surprises of colour mixes and surfaces at each stage of the felt making process and appreciating the contrasts between intense vibrancies and complexities of greys.

Using prefelts the scale of colour areas and composition will be considered before fully felting, while stitching with coloured threads will create interesting small marks and textures. Further contrast of depth will be achieved by bonding open weave fabric to the surface. Depending on what emerges through the process, these will become ideas for future work or for a small finished item.

Individual guidance will be available to extend your personal approach and development. Examples of ethnological and contemporary felts will be shown during the course.
